The Warrior: Raising Your Sword for Battle

We must learn to apply God’s word in our everyday lives. Developing fundamental Bible study habits will cause us to grow in righteousnessJulie Morgan.

Describe your topic in 10 words or less

[JM] Loving, Learning, and Living God's Word.

What have you found challenging about preparing for this talk?

[JM] There is so much I could talk about - it is really hard to narrow it down. I think I could do a 45 minute session on each of those three things - Loving God's word, Learning God's Word, and Living God's Word. In addition (as usual when preparing for a talk) God has challenged me in those various areas. Do I really love His word more than mindless entertainment? How much time do I spend Studying His word? When push comes to shove - do I really live out God's word and am I obedient to my selfish desires or to God?

What is a scripture or quote that has helped your preparation?

[JM] 2 Tim 3:16-17

What is a book you've recently read that you would recommend to others?

[JM] Carry on Mr. Bowditch - its a novel for kids that reminds me that good things don't usually come easy

Favorite Hymn or worship song?

[JM] His Final Word

Introvert of extrovert? How do you know?

[JM] Introvert/Extrovert split. I love being around people but very much need my quiet time by myself (which at my house sometimes comes when I lock myself in the bathroom!)

Finish this sentence, "If I had two hours of free time I would..."

[JM] take a nap!

Favorite smell? Worst smell?

[JM] Favorite - some kind of apple or pumpkin dessert baking in the oven. Worst smell - tuna fish out of a can. hands down. makes me gag every time.

What woman do you most admire in scripture and why?

[JM] Rahab - because of the way God transformed her life from a prostitute to faithful believer

What was your most memorable birthday?

[JM] My 40th because I was going through chemotherapy treatment on my 39th birthday and there was a possibility I wouldn't see my 40th. Plus, I had the whole weekend with my husband to travel around Ohio and Michigan and visit with fabulous friends I don't get to see very often.

What would you say is one of your weaknesses and two of your strengths?

[JM] one weakness - procrastination (bonus weakness - chocolate); two strengths - organization and God-given joy

The Lady in Waiting: Being Cherished by the King

Single women are loved by Christ and expected to serve Him in their churches. Whether never married, divorced or widowed, single women can keep a proper perspective while living joyful and fulfilling lives.

Lisa TwiningDescribe your topic in 10 words or less

[LT] Encouraging single women in the truth and challenging them to service.

What have you found challenging about preparing for this talk?

[LT] The anxiety associated with public speaking and praying that the content of the talk will reflect what God wants the women to hear

What is a scripture or quote that has helped your preparation?

[LT] Romans 15:17 “I glory in Christ Jesus in my service to God.”

What is a book you've recently read that you would recommend to others?

[LT] Unbroken – the only book I’ve recently read outside of the Bible or bible study guides

Favorite Hymn or worship song?

[LT] “As the Hart Longs for Flowing Streams” from Psalm 42 and “My Jesus I Love Thee”

Introvert of extrovert? How do you know?

[LT] Introvert. “Putting myself out there”, “Leading”, etc… exhausts me. I recharge with alone time rather than a crowd

Finish this sentence, "If I had two hours of free time I would..."

[LT] Go hiking

Favorite smell? Worst smell?

[LT] Favorites – baking bread and lilacs; Worst – Rotten food (potatoes/melon) or gasoline

What woman do you most admire in scripture and why?

[LT] Hard to pick just one. Perhaps Mary for her attitude of submission to the LORD despite what it would mean for her life at that time and in the future as the mother of Jesus. “May it be to me as you have said”

What was your most memorable birthday?

[LT] 8th or 30th – both consisted of birthday parties. I won’t mention the bad memory of the one my brother called my “barf-day”

What would you say is one of your weaknesses and two of your strengths?

[LT] Weakness – Lack of flexibility. Strengths – Conscientiousness, Reliability - This is a dangerous question :)
